What can I say? I’ve been studying my blog stats like a miser counting his gold coins.
I’ve read everything I can find on click counts, views vs visitors, the use of ….more in posts, linking internally, linking externally, linking extra terrestrially. I’ve also read and practice the publicize tips through Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest… People who haven’t seen me in years are starting to hate me!
But those stats. Those stats are so alluring.
And the little goblets that announce you’re achieved a significant number of likes. Or followers. And of course the followers never add up to anything that makes any sense. In fact, how can you be getting likes when there are no visits for the day? Don’t worry. I know the answer. I know where to find it. I have it bookmarked.
I just don’t understand it!
Happy Writing!

WordPress Stats. Wasn’t it Shakespeare who said, “That way, lies madness.” Probably not. More than likely, everyone looks at their stats too often. I try to remember that I started blogging because I like to write. It helps to keep me center. Maybe.

You’re definitely correct about “That way, lies madness!” I’ve been pretending I don’t have stats and doing much better. Maybe.

The problem is if you load a graphic or background it seriously lags your viewers computers, or phones, or tablets. I guess for now I will stick with simple and easily loadable.

That’s a good point. I like the way your original (to me) layout focused on what you had to say.
Keep on writing!
